• ENRICH (Educational Research & Innovation in Clinical & Health Sciences) Week o ENRICH is a weeklong conference for healthcare educators that promotes teaching skills, fosters curriculum innovation and showcases research in health education for the 21st century. • Dixon Fellows o This program was initiated in 1988 and is aimed at supporting and preparing selected fellows for careers in academia. Since its inception, this program has aided in the training and research efforts of 91 fellows, with 31 of these remaining as active faculty at UAB. • T32 Fellowship Positions o The T32 training grant is administered through the Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Disease, Vascular Biology & Hypertension Program and UAB Hypertension Research Center educational Activities. • Fellows’ Research Roundtable o The Roundtable is a twice-monthly conference to allow fellows to present ongoing research across all pediatric divisions. Faculty and fellows provide mentoring and feedback on all aspects of the projects. Our fellows present at scientific conferences both nationally and regionally, including the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition (AAP-NCE), the Pediatric Academic Society (PAS) meeting and the Southern Society for Pediatric Research (SSPR) meeting. Highlighting some of the grants received by our pediatric fellows: • LEAH Grant (Adolescent Medicine—Dr. Charisse Graham) • American Society of Hematology Minority Hematology Fellow Award (Hematology/Oncology—Dr. Alexandria Broadnax) Eileen Rife, M.D., (Pediatric Rheumatology), selected for the USSONAR Musculoskeletal Program. USSONAR is a society of rheumatologists, physicians and health professionals in North America working to promote the use of rheumatologic ultrasonography to advance the care of patients with rheumatic diseases. • Meghan Harrison, M.D., (Pediatric Hospital Medicine) elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. • Jackie Razzaghy, M.D., (Neonatology), awarded a SPR Fellows’ Clinical Research Award. • Zaki Yazdi, M.D., (Neonatology), Lucy Weaver, M.D., (Neonatology) and Jennifer Schanzle, D.O., (Adolescent Medicine) awarded SSPR Trainee Travel Awards. • Jackie Razzaghy, M.D., (Neonatology), awarded a SSPR Young Investigator Award in Clinical Research. • Zaki Yazdi, M.D., (Neonatology) inducted into AOA Professional Society. • Hugh Quach, M.D., (Critical Care), awarded the 2024 SCCM Congress Star Research Award by the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
