2025 Children's of Alabmama Community Health Needs Assessment
CONCLUSION
The 2025 CHNA underscores a clear consensus among Alabama residents: Children’s mental and behavioral health, healthcare access, and safety are the most urgent community challenges. Despite high insurance coverage, logistical and financial barriers leave many children without timely care. Poverty, provider shortages, and limited transportation compound these disparities—particularly in rural counties. At the same time, Alabama’s families and professionals express strong commitment to improvement. Participants emphasized prevention, parental education, and community coordination as essential strategies. Addressing behavioral health stigma, expanding local and telehealth services, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration can yield measurable gains in child well-being. Children’s of Alabama is uniquely positioned to lead this work. By leveraging its statewide partnerships and data capacity, the institution can help drive policies and programs that:
• Expand behavioral health access through school and community integration. • Support family and caregiver education on preventive health, trauma, and digital literacy. • Improve transportation and affordability for pediatric care. • Foster collaborative networks linking medical, educational, and civic institutions.
