Resources Poten � ally Available to Address Significant Health Needs Consistent with IRS requirements, this sec � on outlines the internal and external resources that can poten � ally support Children’s of Alabama in addressing the significant pediatric health needs iden � fied within this CHNA. These resources reflect exis � ng strengths across the health system as well as partnerships with community organiza � ons, state agencies, and other providers. While not exhaus � ve, the list highlights key assets that can contribute to meaningful, coordinated improvement in child health and well-being. HEALTH Mental Health Children’s of Alabama Resources: • Comprehensive pediatric behavioral health services – inpa � ent / outpa � ent • Integrated behavioral health within primary care clinics u � lizing PATHS (pediatric access to telemental health services) program, a HRSA funded grant that is jointly administered by Children’s and the Alabama Department of Mental Health • Comprehensive behavioral health providers, e.g., pediatric psychology, social work, and care coordina � on teams • Psychiatric Intake Resource Center (PIRC), a free, confiden � al phone response center designed to help callers and community providers in finding the appropriate level of mental health care • The Amelia Center, providing professional counseling for children and teens grieving the death of a close rela � ve or friend Community Partners / Resources: • Community mental health centers, crisis diversion centers, including Alabama’s 310 boards • Alabama Department of Mental Health programs for children and adolescents • School-based mental health services • Nonprofit counseling agencies, youth-focused crisis centers, and support organiza � ons like the Community Founda � on of Greater Birmingham Child Abuse Children’s of Alabama Resources: • Children's Hospital Interven � on & Preven � on Services (CHIPS) Center provides forensic medical evalua � ons, social work support services, counseling services and preven � on educa � on services.
