Children’s of Alabama Resources: • Children’s of Alabama outpa � ent primary and specialty care loca � ons across central Alabama, in addi � on to loca � ons in Huntsville and Montgomery • Social workers and financial counseling services • Children’s Financial Assistance Policy and charity care programs • Programs suppor � ng rural and underserved communi � es and providers, e.g., PATHS and Children’s of Alabama Community Healthcare Educa � on Simula � on (COACHES). Community Partners / Resources: • Federally Qualified Health Centers and community health clinics, Cahaba Medical Care and Christ Health Center • Je ff erson County Department of Health, providing preven � ve and maternal/child health services • Con � nuous work with Alabama Medicaid and ALL Kids (CHIP) programs on ini � a � ves and work to address coverage threats and opportuni � es for improvement • Referrals to pa � ent assistance organiza � ons for long-stay pa � ent families and other pa � ents/families with significant need • Collabora � on with United Way community-based partners connec � ng families to non-emergent transporta � on, insurance enrollment, and essen � al services CHILD SAFETY Children’s of Alabama Resources: • Hospital-led child injury preven � on and safety educa � on programs through the Health Educa � on Safety Center, including those focused on child passenger safety, firearm safety, pediatric vehicular heatstroke, severe weather, safe teen driving and concussion • Pediatric emergency and trauma services with statewide reach • Social work teams suppor � ng child welfare, family safety, and crisis interven � on • My School Nurse, providing resources to support teachers and others who are caring for school age students. Resources include forms, lectures, ar � cles and events to help school sta ff stay current on medical informa � on as it relates to their students • Alabama Poison Informa � on Center • Safety and health messaging distributed through Partners in Health e-newsleter Community Partners / Resources: • Collabora � on with American Heart Associa � on and Project ADAM working together to enable broad dispersion of AEDs • Partnership with Jeferson County Department of Health and Je ff erson County Sheri ff ’s o ffi ce to distribute gun locks • Joint e ff orts with the Alabama Department of Educa � on to disseminate materials for the state’s school nurses • Alabama Department of Transporta � on, ADECA, Alabama Department of Public Health strong partners for child passenger safety and teen driving These internal and community-based resources form an important founda on for addressing the mental, physical, and social needs of Alabama’s children. Together, along with federal and state advocacy efforts, they represent the partners and assets that will inform Children’s of Alabama’s Implementa on Strategy and support collective efforts to advance the health and well-being of children and families across the state.
