Specialty Services: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) This service is dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD). Adolescent-trained physicians and psychologists collaborate on assessments and treatment plans. Adolescent Nutrition Adolescents and young adults are seen for a variety of nutritional concerns including sports nutrition, weight management (weight loss or weight gain), healthy eating, anemia and elevated blood lipid levels (cholesterol, triglycerides). Eating Disorders This service specializes in the medical and nutritional care of adolescents with eating disorders and disordered eating. The Eating Disorders Clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic that includes physicians, psychologists, social workers and registered dietitians. Female Adolescent Bleeding (FAB) The FAB Clinic evaluates and treats adolescent and young adults with menstrual disorders, including those due to bleeding disorders. The FAB clinic is staffed by pediatric hematology physicians and adolescent medicine physicians. In partnership with pediatric hematology, FAB is a Women and Girls Bleeding Disorder Clinic of Excellence. Family Clinic The UAB Family Clinic serves HIV affected and infected women, men, infants, children and adolescents/young adults. This clinic provides comprehensive multidisciplinary medical and psychosocial supportive care. Call 205.638.9400 for an appointment. Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) We specialize in long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) options for adolescents and young adult females. Patients will be scheduled for an evaluation with a provider prior to scheduling a LARC placement appointment. Leadership and Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) The LEAH Clinic offers services to help adolescents and young adults with various concerns, including management of chronic medical conditions, mental health concerns, healthy and active lifestyles, school problems or educational needs, reducing health risks and building resiliency. This clinic is staffed by adolescent-trained physicians, nutritionists, psychologists, nurses and social workers. Substance Use Assessment This service specializes in the care of adolescents and young adults who have concerns regarding drug or alcohol use. Physicians and psychologists conduct assessment and management plans. 28
