Dear Colleague,

Children’s of Alabama is pleased to issue this update to our directory of pediatric services. Since the previous edition of our directory, we have continued to take great strides towards meeting the growing healthcare needs of children in our state and throughout the southeast.

Highlights include the expansion of our inpatient behavioral health services, the addition of services offered at our freestanding Patriot Park outpatient center, and the much-anticipated opening of our new 50-bed PICU, to name a few. Even amidst today’s challenges, our commitment to excellence has never wavered. Our mission remains the same: to provide the finest pediatric health services to all children in an environment that fosters excellence in research and medical education. Through our network of primary care practices, outpatient centers, and specialty care clinics, we can ensure a full continuum of care for children, from infancy through adolescence and transition into adulthood. Our relationships with primary care providers throughout the state is a key component to that continuum of care and our shared success. Our people are our greatest strength. Our physicians, nurses, faculty, and staff are the foundation of Children’s high standard of care and safety. Their devotion to their work and compassion for patients and their families is why Newsweek named Children’s of Alabama one of the “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026” and NRC Health honored Children’s an award for “Excellence in Patient Experience” for the second consecutive year. Within our walls, every child experiences the unique blend of expert care and heartfelt compassion that defines Children’s of Alabama. Please replace any older versions of this directory with this one. You can also find the most up-to-date directory and other resources for referring physicians on the link For Healthcare Professionals at childrensal.org.

About the Directory

This publication is intended to be a quick reference for referring physicians and their staff, providing a general overview of Children’s of Alabama and its specialty care and support services on campus. This directory is not a comprehensive medical staff directory.

This information and more is also available on our website, childrensal.org. Many physicians in private practice have privileges at Children’s of Alabama and may be included on the website upon request. The Directory of Pediatric Services is printed biennially by the Children’s of Alabama Marketing and Communications department. All information has been verified and was accurate at time of printing. Any edits or additions for future editions are welcome and can be directed to Candace Townley at (205) 638-6916 or (205) 638-6660 (main number), or via email to Candace.Townley@childrensal.org.

Children’s of Alabama One Stop assists physicians with all aspects of emergency or inpatient referral—from patient placement/

admissions to consults, transports and transfers.

Referring physicians may also use One Stop to contact Children’s specialists for advice—even when the patient in question is not being seen for an emergency or being considered for admission to Children’s. How does it work? 1. Referring physician calls One Stop using one of the numbers above 2. House Supervisor (HS) obtains information about patient and a direct callback number 3. HS initiates a three-way call with Children’s physician, if needed 4. If decision is made to transfer, HS calls referring facility back with transfer information

One Stop can also: • Assist with patient follow-up and medical records • Assist with physician concerns • Resolve issues/concerns • Help facilitate the patient referral process

Please refer to individual divisions for direct referral phone numbers.
