• Delivery of community programs including safe sitter classes, baby showers, car seat installation and training, safe sleep education, sex education, and digital education through monthly videos and social media (Partners in Kids Health). • Collaboration with community and state partners such as the Alabama Partnership on Children, Alaquest, Childcare Resources, and others to expand access to evidence-based parenting education. • Integration of parent education across safety, access, and behavioral health
Impact
• CHIPS Center – Similar community-based child abuse and neglect prevention education takes place throughout the year with parents and adults in central Alabama.
o Education provided to 4,476 adults in 2022 o Education provided to 3,183 adults in 2023 o Education provided to 5,398 in 2024
• The Amelia Center - provides access to counseling services to grieving children, parents and families in the greater Birmingham region in a caring and compassionate environment that fosters hope and healing. The Amelia Center’s impact over the reporting period includes: o 2,454 professional counseling services provided to parents/children in 2022
o 2,441 professional counseling services provided in 2023 o 2,528 professional counseling services provided in 2024 o 11 community crisis, workshops, and grief training sessions held 2022-2024
• Severe Weather Preparedness and Summer Safety Campaigns – Children’s partnered with WVTM 13 Television in 2023, 2024 and 2025 to educate the community regarding severe weather preparedness ahead of the spring tornado season. Additional messaging was shared through Children’s of Alabama social media channels and traditional media outlets. o In 2022, Children’s had one post for severe weather on Facebook, garnering around 75 interactions. Children’s had 4 posts for pediatric heatstroke and 18 summer safety posts, featuring topics like Teen Driving, Water Safety, Heat Illness, Lawnmower Safety, and Firework Safety. o In 2023, Children’s posted two severe weather preparation posts. Children’s only had one PVH-related social post and twelve Summer Safety posts. Topics covered for the 2023 Summer Safety series included sunscreen application, beach safety, ATV and golf cart safety, along with topics covered in 2022. Children’s ran an PSA with WVTM 13 about severe weather preparedness. o Tradition Media Outlets Activity
